About Us

Physical culture, also known as 'physie', is a unique and competitive sport that combines ballet and modern dancing. It improves physical fitness, flexibility, co-ordination and posture.

Physie is a sport for all ages to enjoy, build confidence and gain lifelong friends.

Not only is physie a lifelong sport for girls and ladies, it is also a platform which leads to many opportunities, including overseas travel, interstate travel, networking with people, and further your dance careers - like cheerleading!
We welcome your interest in our club and look forward to meeting with you soon at Bangor Georges River Physical Culture.

Competitions

Each year a number of competitions are scheduled between August – November. Competitions consist of:

Interclubs

These are small events hosted by other Physie Clubs and give members the opportunity to experience competition in an informal setting.  All competitors receive an award for their participation.

Team Competitions

Six girls or ladies are selected to represent BGR Physie in a team competition against other clubs with members in the same age group.

Champion Girl and Lady Sections

Champion Girl / Lady Competitions are the main individual competition, giving competitors the opportunity to perform against all Sydney Metropolitan clubs for a chance to be selected for the State competition. State competitors then have the opportunity to be selected to compete at the State Grand Final, performed at the Sydney Town Hall on the last Sunday in November.

Club Showcase and Presentation

Held at the end of each year, this celebration is to showcase all of our members performances, acknowledge their achievements, and recognise the contributions made throughout the entire year. Our showcase is completed with our end of year party for all members to attend also. EP Petites perform at the club showcase.

Whilst competitions aren't for everyone, we encourage girls and ladies to compete to help build their condfidence, as well as club spirit!
